TTT - Top Ten Books I Want To Own

This week's topic is a freebie. So, I chose to share my top ten books I want to own. I don't own many books. (I know, surprising right?) That's just because books are so expensive and for that reason only, I borrow books from friends or just get them at the library. My list is mostly top ten book series I want to own (I don't know it just worked out that way). In no particular order..

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)Obsidian (Lux, #1)Isle of Night (The Watchers, #1)Some Girls Bite (Chicagoland Vampires, #1)Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1)City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1)The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1)Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1)The Fault in Our StarsThe Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1)

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead (Series)
I can't believe I don't own this series. I need it in my life. I did buy Spirit Bound though about a month ago. I'm definitely adding the rest soon!

Lux by Jennifer L. Armentrout (Series)
I read the first two books about a month ago and totally fell in love. I'm now reading the third book, Opal. This series is a must read which means that it's a must buy.

The Watchers by Veronica Wolff (Series)
This is not just another vampire series. This is a kickass, survival of the fittest vampire series. I need to get this pronto.

Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill (Series)
I love, love, love this one. It's not just about vampires but about a lot of other paranormals. I love how Chloe Neill fits politics into this series. I only own one book, Hard Bitten, but hope to get the rest.

Night Huntress by Jeaniene Frost (Series)
Jeaniene Frost can write a kickass vampire novel. I love Cat and Bones!

The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare (Series)
I don't know why I don't own these books! They're at the top top of my favorites list.

The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare (Series)
The same goes for the prequel to the Mortal Instruments. Can I just say WILL HERONDALE.

Blood of Eden by Julie Kagawa (Series)
Another vampire series but seriously I need these in my life. I actually won the last book in the trilogy, The Forever Song, in a giveaway so I was veeeerrrrryyyy excited about that. Now I just need the first two.

Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry (Series)
I finished reading Crash Into You recently and it got me really wanting to get all of these books. They're amazing.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan (Series)
I only read and own (my cousin gave it to me) The Lightning Thief but I liked it so much that I want the whole series.

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (Standalone)
I came close to buying this book. I totally should have.

The Buzz:

What are some books that you want to own?

Review: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Title: City of Bones
Author: Cassandra Clare
Series: The Mortal Instruments #1
Reading Level: Young Adult
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry Books | March 27, 2007
Pages: 485

Add it: Goodreads

Buy it: Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Book Depository | Books-A-Million

Synopsis:

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

My thoughts {bzzzzzzzzzzz}:

The Scene

NYC. Half-human, half-angel hybrids (aka Shadowhunters) who hunt and kill demons. 15 year old girl who doesn't know what anything about this alternate world and is thrown into it unexpectedly. Sound like a typical young adult book yet?

The Girl

Clary was like of lot of main female characters in YA. Kind of normal then gets thrown into a world where normal is anything but. I actually liked her a lot. Surprising because I usually like the more kick ass variety of female main characters. I wouldn't call Clary hardcore like Rose from Vampire Academy but she's still pretty tough.

The Boy(s)

If you like cocky, sarcastic, blond, and, well hot, look no further then Jace Wayland. Jace is very infuriating from the start and kind of a jerk. Buuut, he's also a badass demon hunter who will do anything to protect his brother and sister (not by blood) Isabelle and Alec. Also, Jace really knows how to crack those one-liners. Simon is the other guy in the equation. He's Clary's best friend and kind of in the friend zone. Simon is hilarious! I think he's a great character and definitely is another great reason why I love City of Bones so much.

The WTF?!

I don't really wanna spoil it for ya'll but I have to say it. One word: incest. Yeah, it was really frickin' weird when I found out about this. Trust me, you'll be shocked too. Luckily, almost all the other books are out so you don't have to wait to read what happens next.

The Buzz

I was completely engrossed in City of Bones and read it really fast. I loved the world building and all the different elements of the book. The characters were great, the plot was great, and it kept me thinking about it all the time.

Rating

Really, it should come as no surprise that

WOW - Waiting On City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

This week I'm waiting on

ERCHOMAI, SEBASTIAN HAD SAID.

I am coming.

Darkness returns to the Shadowhunter world. In the long-awaited conclusion to the acclaimed Mortal Instruments series, Clary and her friends fight the greatest evil they have ever faced: Clary's own brother.

Sebastian Morgenstern is on the move, systematically turning Shadowhunter against Shadowhunter. Bearing the Dark Cup, he transforms Shadowhunters into creatures out of nightmare, tearing families and lovers as the ranks of his Endarkened army swell.

The embattled Shadowhunters withdraw to Idris -- but not even the famed demon towers of Alicante can keep Sebastian at bay. And with the Nephilim trapped in Idris, who will guard the world against demons?

When one of the greatest betrayals the Nephilim has ever know is revealed, Clary, Jace, Isabelle, Simon, and Alec must flee -- even of their journey takes them deep into demon realms, where no Shadowhunter has set foot before, and from which no human being has ever returned...

Love will be sacrificed and lives lost in the terrible battle for the fate of the world in the thrilling final installment of the classic urban fantasy series The Mortal Instruments!

I am simultaneously annoyed and excited for City of Heavenly Fire. On one hand, I love this series and I really want to read the ending. On the other hand, I'm so annoyed that it's taken two freaking years for it to be released since City of Lost Souls

Seriously. Let me read the book already.

Are you excited to read the last Mortal Instruments book? What are you most excited about? Is it Malec? Simon and Izzy? Clary and Jace? Or is it the overall ending of the series?

City of Heavenly Fire releases May 27, 2014.
