Synopsis:

The #1 New York Times
bestselling author of the Vampire Academy and Bloodline series returns
with the second installment in her acclaimed Age of X series.

Gameboard of the Gods
introduced religious investigator Justin March and Mae Koskinen, the
beautiful supersoldier assigned to protect him. Together they have been
charged with investigating reports of the supernatural and the return of
the gods, both inside the Republic of United North America and out.
With this highly classified knowledge comes a shocking revelation: Not
only are the gods vying for human control, but the elect—special humans
marked by the divine—are turning against one another in bloody fashion.

Their
mission takes a new twist when they are assigned to a diplomatic
delegation headed by Lucian Darling, Justin’s old friend and rival,
going into Arcadia, the RUNA’s dangerous neighboring country. Here, in a
society where women are commodities and religion is intertwined with
government, Justin discovers powerful forces at work, even as he
struggles to come to terms with his own reluctantly acquired deity.

Meanwhile,
Mae—grudgingly posing as Justin’s concubine—has a secret mission of her
own: finding the illegitimate niece her family smuggled away years ago.
But with Justin and Mae resisting the resurgence of the gods in
Arcadia, a reporter’s connection with someone close to Justin back home
threatens to expose their mission—and with it the divine forces the
government is determined to keep secret.

The Scene: Same confusing and dizzying world that Richelle Mead built in the first book, Gameboard of the Gods. Except not so confusing because you learned most of everything world building related in said first book. This time, majority of the action takes place in enemy country, Arcadia where women have like no rights and are treated like trash. Add in gods, supernatural shenanigans, sex trafficking, kidnapping, and politics to this book and you've got a pretty good sequel.

The Girl: Mae is basically the same in the sequel; cold, calcualting, and ruthless. The only exception is that she's waaay more open to Justin and the supernatural. I like Mae well enough but I still couldn't quite click with her character. As I've said in my review of Gamboard of the Gods, I blame the third person POV. Don't get me wrong, many authors do this well, great even. I just think it's not Richelle's thing.

The Boy(s): Justin and Mae's relationship actually got somewhere in The Immortal Crown. Justin has a lot of faults, yes, but he really is sweet and when it comes to Mae, even sweeter. But, because of that ending I'm stuck in between smiling at him and cursing at him. Cliffhangers suck.

The WTF?!: I'm really not a fan of politics in general so reading about a book chock full of it was kind of a downer for me. Also, for some reason, I hated it when it came to Tessa's POV. She grates on me, I've no idea why. I understand how her storyline is going to connect with Justin's but her story just seems so irrelevant.

The Buzz: All in all, The Immortal Crown is a solid sequel to Gameboard. I enjoyed parts of this book more than its predecssor. I liked the action parts especially Mae's journey in Arcadia to get back to the RUNA. Some of the storyline was good but it was still a bit too much for me. Richelle really built up a complicated world that, in my opinion, takes away from the story. I think there needs to be more action involved and the story drags sometimes. The third person perspective also dampens the buzz factor for me. There are some bright spots though so I'm hoping the third book will be better. Plus, I've got to read it because...cliffhangers you know. :)

in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the
months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks
until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from
Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are
the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer--they have
been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But
one summer, one terrible and wonderful summer, the more everything
changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all
along.

The Girl: Belly is kind of average to me. She has this whole thing of trying to make this summer "great." I don't know, Belly was childish at times but other times she was likable.

The Boy(s): Conrad and Jeremiah are the brothers that Belly has spent practically every summer with. She has always felt left out of Conrad, Jeremiah, and her brother Steven's "circle." To be honest, I actually didn't like Conrad all that much. I think Jeremiah's waaay nicer and he was just more up front with Belly while Conrad was all moody and irritable.

The WTF?!: I was kinda annoyed at how Belly didn't realize that Susannah was sick while everyone else did. Open your eyes, girl.

The Buzz: The Summer I Turned Pretty doesn't have the buzz factor. In fact, it lulls at times and Belly's voice is grating sometimes. However, I did enjoy it and I found myself smiling at times. This will definitely not be on my favorites shelf but I will still continue the trilogy. After all, there's still some summer left...

I know this is a late Waiting on Wednesday but I still haven't gotten the book...so that counts right? </xml><![endif]-->Mainly set in the mystical faerie
realm of the Nevernever. Also, faeries. Puck. Ash. Quest. Talking cat. ASH.

The Girl: Meghan
Chase starts seeing things like shadows and stuff on her sixteenth birthday.
You know, not normal things. Then she finds out her brother is kidnapped by the
Fey so she has to go on a quest to save said brother with Puck (yes, Midsummer
Night's Dream Puck) and a talking cat (Grimalkin). Meghan, for a sixteen
year old YA main character is suprisngly likable. Yes, she bothered me at times
(girl, learn how to fight!) but overall she's alright.

The Boy(s): I'll
start with Puck and not the overly obvious choice of the stoic faerie prince,
Ash. Robbie aka Puck is that Puck, you know from the Shakespeare play. I find
Puck to be very entertaining. He's quite funny and you can tell he really cares
about Meghan. But I have a feeling he'll be friendzoned majorly (ahem, hot
faerie prince anyone?). Ash is like the typical hot, brooding, and fierce young
adult bad boy. Except without any humor save one joke. I have to say, I like
Ash but I think Meghan was really stupid to melt into a puddle of mush whenever
she was around him especially when he says things like,

"War?" Something cold
touched my cheek, and I glanced up to see snowflakes swirling in a
lightning-riddled sky. It was eerily beautiful, and I shivered. "What will
happen then?"

Ash stepped closer. His fingers came
up to brush the hair from my face, sending an electric shock through me from my
spine to my toes. His cool breath tickled my ear as he leaned in.

"I'll kill you," he
whispered, and walked away...

Yeah, that doesn't really strike me
as warm and fuzzy, you know?

The WTF?!: Talking
cat. Don't get me wrong, this WTF is actually good. I actually love Grim. He's
all sorts of funny, amusing, and a little frustrating. It's just that he
reminds me of the Cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland soo much. I don't
know if that's a good or bad thing?

The Buzz: This
book is your typical faerie book but not so typical as any other typical faerie
book (say that three times fast!). If that makes sense. It's filled with action
and adventure and lots of Fey (duh). I liked this book. So, go and read it.
They say this series gets better as it goes on so we shall see.

Do you ever feel like your left out of a certain craze or fad? Like, there's this really cool new style of tops that are in but the top doesn't seem to fit right? Or the new fad that bangs are da bomb but they actually look atrocious on you and give you bad acne anyways?

Well, that's what Twilight was for me about 5 years back. And actually it's still that way for me.

To put it bluntly, I dislike the sparkly vampires and the love triangle and all of the books. I just don't like Twilight.

And sometimes this makes me feel left out. Sometimes I don't understand how something so well liked and popular escapes my nod of approval.

But then I feel like why do people even like these books? I mean, I get the premise. It has vampires, yo! And I love those bloodsuckers. But, I don't like the sparkly kind. I even have it in my Twitter bio, that's the amount of my dislike. I have to make sure people know that indeed yes I do adore vampires but not to be confused with one certain type of vampire that is which from Stephenie Meyer's saga.

I don't want to feel like the black sheep here because surely there are some people out there who don't obsessively love it. Right?

Right?

Am I right?!?

But if you do happen to like Twilight, then great! I'm not gonna rain on your parade. But, it's just not for me. Why? Well, here are some reasons...

1. Bella Swan - Ugh, she kills me. She literally is the worst female young adult character in my opinion. I feel like she doesn't have a mind of her own and is always in slobbery lust/love of Edward Cullen. DUDE, think for yourself sometimes!

2. No fangs?!? - What kind of vampire series is this? How can vampires not have fangs? I do not get this. Yes, they're supposed to have some sort of venom to kill their prey and razor sharp teeth but how can we know this without Stephenie Meyer telling us?! It takes all the badassery out of it. Vampires are supposed to look menacing and that includes FANGS.

3. Sparkly Vampires - Do I really have to say any more? Sparkle and vampire just do not go together. How is this a thing? How in any way can sparkling in the sun incite fear in anyone? The reaction your're gonna get is more like this

4. The Love Triangle - Hahaha this love triangle started the whole team thing! I remember the Team Edward and Team Jacob thing. It was laughable seeing as this love triangle is so stupid. You could already tell Bella was gonna always go for Edward. Jacob had no chance.

5. The Premise - Stephenie Meyer took a typical YA trend and spun it into a lousy story and love triangle. Bella is annoying, Edward is annoying, Jacob is annoying. It's all very shallow.

Yupp, those are some of my reasons.

Now, you may be asking why I read all the books if I dislike Twilight so much. Well, you see, I'm OCD when it comes to finishing books and series even if they're bad. But, that's a discussion for another time on Random Buzz.

What about you? How do you feel about Twilight? Is there another popular series that you are not a fan of?

Psssst!

I have to say the movies, in this case, are much better than the books. This is a rare case of book to movies where movies are better. They're actually mildly enjoyable but don't quote me on that.
The Scene: Girl with traumatic past. Boy with troubled family life. Lots of teenage angsty drama and a hot romance make up Katie McGarry's debut novel.

The Girl: Echo Emerson is a girl with a past. She can't remember an incident she had with her mom and her only reminder are the scars that run up and down her arms. Echo has her issues but I think that's what really makes her so relatable. Katie McGarry really knows how to write characters that are engaging and stay with you even after you've finished the book.

The Boy(s): Noah Hutchins. Bad boy (tattoos, check. scars, check. hot bod, triple check). Fiercely protective. Smartass. And also a very sweet and loving guy to both his brothers and the girl he loves, Echo.

The WTF?!: Noah calling Echo his siren or nymph. Like really? Baby sounds waaay better.

The Buzz: Pushing the Limits has all the elements for a great young adult contemporary read. I love the realness of Katie's characters and the issues that are dealt with in the book. Echo and Noah are both characters that have lots of depth that is great to read about. I literally was sad to see this book end. Suffice it to say, Pushing the Limits definitely has the buzz factor going on.

In KALONA’S FALL, the shadows in Kalona’s past will finally come to light… We will learn about the winged immortal’s secret history and discover how he went from being the Goddess’s Warrior and Guardian to her enemy and betrayer. Did Darkness taint Kalona as it did Neferet, or has the powerful immortal always preferred power over honor, and control over faith? This novella will be crucial to fans’ understanding of Kalona, before his role in the explosive final installment of the House of Night, REDEEMED coming in October 2014.

This is the last novella in the House of Night series before the last full length book comes out in October.
I'm, like, relieved that there's only two more I have to read in this series. Don't get me wrong, it started out pretty good. The first four or five books were awesome! But, then they got hard to just finish. It became a struggle and the only reason I've kept reading them is because I wanna know what happens with stupid Neferet.
Anyways, this novella looks pretty cool. I mean, the cover's gorgeous and we get to learn more about Kalona so there's that.
Throw in family problems, friendship, romance, summer, and you've got a great YA contemporary read.

The Girl: Samantha, our MC, is great. She has her stuff together, for the most part. I love that there's no over the top drama about Sam and she's there for her friends and family even when she messes up or lines blur. And of course, I loved her pondering and watching of the Garretts from her roof.

The Boy(s): Holy hell. This is what you call a book boyfriend. Jase is not like the typical stereotype that is so prominent in young adult literature today. He's not a cocky, arrogant ass that hides a heart of gold. What you see is what you get with Jase. He's a good guy; sweet, nice, hardworking, a good brother, athletic, and a helluva boyfriend to Samantha.

The Buzz: Everything about this book is great. From page one, it sucked me in and didn't let me go. Fitzpatrick wrote very relatable characters and a story that was realistic and compelling. I loved getting to know the Garretts and their crazy hectic lovable life. I loved seeing Samantha's relationship with Jase begin and grow. My Life Next Door is one of those books that keeps you reading late at night wanting more even after you finish it.

After reading The Fiery Heart, I remembered why I hate cliffhangers so much. I soo need Sliver Shadows.

On a side note, what is up with that cover? It's horrendous. The cover models look nothing like Sydney or Adrian. And it's downright cheesy. Meh. They could have done just a tad bit better.
This week's topic is a freebie. So, I chose to share my top ten books I want to own. I don't own many books. (I know, surprising right?) That's just because books are so expensive and for that reason only, I borrow books from friends or just get them at the library. My list is mostly top ten book series I want to own (I don't know it just worked out that way). In no particular order..

Synopsis:

The faction-based
society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered—fractured by
violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when
offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she’s known, Tris
is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple
new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and
painful memories.

But Tris’s new reality is even more alarming
than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered
meaningless. Explosive new truths change the hearts of those she loves.
And once again, Tris must battle to comprehend the complexities of human
nature—and of herself—while facing impossible choices about courage,
allegiance, sacrifice, and love.

Told from a riveting dual
perspective, Allegiant, by #1 New York Times best-selling author
Veronica Roth, brings the Divergent series to a powerful conclusion
while revealing the secrets of the dystopian world that has captivated
millions of readers in Divergent and Insurgent.

The last book in the Divergent trilogy finally takes place outside the walls of dystopian Chicago. Going into this, I was pretty excited to know what was outside. I was predicting like desolation and waste and survival stuff.

I was really off.

What's outside is the government. Apparently, there's like experiments in certain cities that the government (the United States of America, yeah that government) holds to try to "cure" genetically damaged people. And the Divergent are genetically pure people. I don't know, this plot line felt kinda insignificant especially because of the ending.

If I start talking about Tris, it's just gonna be a crapload of spoilers. Or a ton of gifs. That give away said spoilers. All I'll say is I'm NOT happy with what happened.

Reading from Four's perspective was quite interesting. I always wondered what went on inside his head. I don't know if I liked the dual perspectives all that much. I kinda just liked reading from Tris' POV but it was still cool.

What went on with Peter really irked me. I had like a love/hate relationship (okay, maybe a amuse/hate relationship) going on with him after the events of Insurgent and while reading this book I was starting to like him a bit more. Until the end. It actually reminded me of his cowardice from the first book especially so it was like a wake up of some sorts. I mean he didn't do anything like really horrible but it disgusted me because he took the easy way out.

If you get over that wretched ending, then you could say that Allegiant was really good. I enjoyed reading it for the most part although at times I was a tiny bit bored. I have to say I liked Divergent and Insurgent better than the last book. I think it might have something to do with that ending...

Synopsis:

Acclaimed author Katie McGarry returns with the knockout new story of two high school seniors who are about to learn what winning really means

Champion kickboxer Haley swore she'd never set foot in the ring again after one tragic night. But then the guy she can't stop thinking about accepts a mixed martial arts fight in her honor. Suddenly, Haley has to train West Young. All attitude, West is everything Haley promised herself she'd stay away from. Yet he won't last five seconds in the ring without her help.

West is keeping a big secret from Haley. About who he really is. But helping her-fighting for her-is a shot at redemption. Especially since it's his fault his family is falling apart. He can't change the past, but maybe he can change Haley's future.

Hayley and West have agreed to keep their relationship strictly in the ring. But as an unexpected bond forms between them and attraction mocks their best intentions, they'll face their darkest fears and discover love is worth fighting for.

In a world of shadows, anything is possible. Except escaping your fate.

Ever since she was a child, Ivy has been gripped by visions of strange realms just beyond her own. But when her sister goes missing, Ivy discovers the truth is far worse—her hallucinations are real, and her sister is trapped in a parallel realm. And the one person who believes her is the dangerously attractive guy who's bound by an ancient legacy to betray her.

Adrian might have turned his back on those who raised him, but that doesn't mean he can change his fate…no matter how strong a pull he feels toward Ivy. Together they search for the powerful relic that can save her sister, but Adrian knows what Ivy doesn't: that every step brings Ivy closer to the truth about her own destiny, and a war that could doom the world. Sooner or later, it will be Ivy on one side and Adrian on the other. And nothing but ashes in between…

Doesn't it sound so good? That cover is freaking gorgeous. When I found out that Jeaniene Frost, one of my favorite authors, was writing a new series I was ecstatic! I love her Night Huntress series and I was even more excited to hear that The Beautiful Ashes would be New Adult!

Obsidian was very unique to me in that it's about aliens. I normally don't read anything about aliens so I thought this was pretty different, but cool. Also, man this book is HOT. It's really really good.

The concept in this book was totally off the charts. It was actually kinda confusing with a lot of world building and sci-fiy stuff. It was definitely unique. Check out my review here.

Cinder had a very different premise. Books like these, I think you either love 'em or hate 'em and I fell in line with the latter. The very unique twist on Cinderella with robots was pretty daring though. I read this book when I was like 13, so a long time ago. I remember that the format was in emails that the main character, Emily, writes to her friend. I've never really read any books with this type of format but I ended up really loving this series. If you're in for a light and hilarious read, pick up the Emily series by Katie Maxwell.

Drew's on an island again doing her own kickass routine. There's lots of training in this one with Ronan to boot. The whole thing with Emma in the previous book, Blood Fever, was dealt with (kinda), thank god, but it was still sad.

The Girl

Oh gosh. Can I just say that I love Drew? She is awesome and so kickass. I love her fight, her snark, and how strong she is. Yeah, she makes some stupid decision sometimes (who doesn't?) but I think that's what makes her a bit realistic, especially for a girl her age. Drew is a huge reason why I love the Watchers series so much.

The Boy(s)

Ronan was in this book so much. And I loved it. Don't get me wrong I like Carden but I've always been more of a Ronan fan. Drew and him just need to hurry up and get together already.

The WTF?!

Ohmygosh, what the hell was up with Yasuo?! I was totally flipping because I really liked him in the previous books. He went all freaking psycho on Drew and it actually made me a little sad. And angry.

The Buzz

I can't even begin to express how much I enjoy the Watchers series and The Keep was no exception. I loved the action, mystery, intrigue, and of course romance that totally kept me captivated.

I just cannot wait for the next book to come out! But, to tide you over (and me) there's a novella out that's in Ronan's POV.

Yes, Ronan's POV.

“Tracer
Ronan.” The vampire Hugo De Rosas Alcántara stared at me over steepled fingers.
His face was unmarred by age, features smoothed by that utter stillness borne
of immortality. To him, I was merely a man. Worse, a young man. And he was
trying to make me squirm.

He leaned
closer, peering at me. Leather the color of ox’s blood creaked beneath him, the
office decor, like his posturing, meant to menace. Alcántara was ancient, but
more than that, he was a ruler. A creature of power among the most powerful.

Young, he
called me. An irony, seeing as Alcántara looked no older than my nineteen
years. To him, I was weak. A bit of mortal ephemera. Flesh with an expiration
date—one that he controlled.

all,” I assured him. Mine was a game that went deeper than impatience and fear.
The day would come when Alcántara learned how greatly he’d underestimated me.
For now, though, I gave him a subservient nod. “I’m merely looking forward to
getting on my way.”

way, is it?” He leaned back with a sneer. “You fashion yourself quite the lone
wolf, don’t you? A ma-ver-ick.” He pronounced each syllable of the word slowly,
disdainfully, his lips peeling back as he ended on the sharp, hard k sound,
revealing a pair of long, gleaming fangs.

remember, rebels are not tolerated.” His mouth curved in a catlike smile. Lean
and striking, sleek and dark, the Spanish vampire was a deadly panther in
elegant human form. “You are merely a Tracer. My Tracer.”

My thoughts {bzzzzzzzzzzz}:

The Scene

Spellcaster is like so many young adult titles nowadays. It has a main character (female) with side characters (friend), and love interest (hot boy). There's also some sort of supernatural going on (magic) and an evil villain (evil witch). I'll tell you right now, I didn't like Spellcaster very much. It was just very...bleh. Yeah, it had so many elements of YA books currently but it was actually quite boring.

The Girl

We'll start with the main character. It's been awhile since I read the book but all I can remember about Nadia is...nothing. Seriously, I can't really remember what Nadia is like because her character lacked any type of depth. She was completely one-dimensional. She bored me to death and I couldn't connect with her at all.

The Boy(s)

The love interest, Mateo, seemed so forced to me. It was like Gray was forcing it down our throats that MATEO AND NADIA ARE GOING TO BE TOGETHER ARE SUPPOSED TO BE TOGETHER AND WILL BE TOGETHER. Like, okay we get it.

On top of that, I didn't like Mateo really. He was just kinda flat like most of the characters in Spellcaster.

The WTF?!

1. the characters - I didn't relate to them at all. Maybe it's me but I just couldn't connect with Nadia, Mateo, or even Verlaine.
2. the plot - let me just say, booor-ing. Don't get me wrong, it had heaps of potential but it was so slooow.

The Buzz

Sadly, Spellcaster had very little buzz. It had potential but it didn't live up to that potential.
VENGEANCE WILL BE HERS
With the death of her love, Zeke, she has her answer.

MONSTER

But the trail is bloody and long, and Sarren has left many surprises for Allie and her companions—her creator, Kanin, and her blood brother, Jackal. The trail is leading straight to the one place they must protect at any cost—the last vampire-free zone on Earth, Eden. And Sarren has one final, brutal shock in store for Allie.

Synopsis:

When fifteen-year-old
Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she
hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by
three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre
weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the
police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there
is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was
he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters,
warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first
encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and
acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into
Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary
herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in
ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly
get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...

Exotic
and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's
ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they
will never want to end.

My thoughts {bzzzzzzzzzzz}:

The Scene

NYC. Half-human, half-angel hybrids (aka Shadowhunters) who hunt and kill demons. 15 year old girl who doesn't know what anything about this alternate world and is thrown into it unexpectedly. Sound like a typical young adult book yet?

The Girl

Clary was like of lot of main female characters in YA. Kind of normal then gets thrown into a world where normal is anything but. I actually liked her a lot. Surprising because I usually like the more kick ass variety of female main characters. I wouldn't call Clary hardcore like Rose from Vampire Academy but she's still pretty tough.

The Boy(s)

If you like cocky, sarcastic, blond, and, well hot, look no further then Jace Wayland. Jace is very infuriating from the start and kind of a jerk. Buuut, he's also a badass demon hunter who will do anything to protect his brother and sister (not by blood) Isabelle and Alec. Also, Jace really knows how to crack those one-liners. Simon is the other guy in the equation. He's Clary's best friend and kind of in the friend zone. Simon is hilarious! I think he's a great character and definitely is another great reason why I love City of Bones so much.

The WTF?!

I don't really wanna spoil it for ya'll but I have to say it. One word: incest. Yeah, it was really frickin' weird when I found out about this. Trust me, you'll be shocked too. Luckily, almost all the other books are out so you don't have to wait to read what happens next.

The Buzz

I was completely engrossed in City of Bones and read it really fast. I loved the world building and all the different elements of the book. The characters were great, the plot was great, and it kept me thinking about it all the time.

Hey guys!

You know all those rating systems that bloggers seem to conjure like magic specifically tailored to their blogs? Yeah, well I kinda got tired of my plain old star system. So, I've been thinking that maybe I should create my own rating system, but I've been putting it off for so long because I didn't know what each rating should be called.

Then it hit me.

My blog name, Brianna's Book Buzz, is the perfect way to base my rating system off of. So, without further ado, here is my new rating system:

No Buzz Whatsoever: It was horrible. I did not like this book at all. There was no buzz in this book. I definitely would NOT recommend this book.

Little to No Buzz: It was okay. Really didn't have much buzz going for this book. This book wasn't completely horrible but it still wasn't my cup tea. I would not recommend this book.

Some Minor Buzz: It was just good. Definitely wasn't great but not horrible either. I had some problems with this book but was still mildly enjoyable. I would maybe recommend this book.

Some Major Buzz: It was really good. I enjoyed this book a lot but it didn't quite hit the buzz factor. Still, a wonderful book and would recommend.

The Buzz Factor: It was AMAZING. This is the book that's worthy of an award. It's the book that sucks you in where you're incapable of doing anything remotely productive because your eyes are super-glued to the pages. I HIGHLY recommend this book.

What do you think? Do you like it? Anything I should do different? :)
Synopsis:

Until now, he's existed only in her dreams -
but fate is about to bring them together.
I shove through the crowd, knocking into girls and bouncing off boys, until one in particular catches me, steadies me.
I feel so secure, so at home in his arms.
I melt against his chest-lift my gaze to meet his. Gasping when I stare into a pair of icy blue eyes banded by brilliant flecks of gold that shine like kaleidoscopes, reflecting my image thousands of times.
The boy from my dream.
The one who died in my arms.
Strange things are happening to Daire Santos. Crows mock her, glowing people stalk her, time stops without warning, and a beautiful boy with unearthly blue eyes haunts all her dreams. Fearing for her daughter’s sanity, Daire’s mother sends her to live with the grandmother she’s never met. A woman who recognizes the visions for what they truly are—the call to her destiny as a Soul Seeker—one who can navigate the worlds between the living and dead.
There on the dusty plains of Enchantment, New Mexico, Daire sets out to harness her mystical powers. But it’s when she meets Dace, the boy from her dreams, that her whole world is shaken to its core. Now Daire is forced to discover if Dace is the one guy she's meant to be with...or if he’s allied with the enemy she's destined to destroy.

My thoughts {bzzzzzzzzzzz}:

The Scene

Some girl named Daire has some weird things happen to her. Then, she goes to this one-horse town and stays with her grandmother that's she's never met. Then, her grandmother trains her to be a Soul Seeker and she meets some twins with weird names.

The Girl

To be honest, Daire was just kinda blah. No, that's not right she was annoying actually. Daire complained a lot and she called her mom Jennika. Yeah, she called her mom by her first name. Like I said, annoying.

The Boy(s)

Okay, let me think. The twin brothers in Fated are like yin and yang I think. Uh, maybe not. Oh, right yeah I think the Dace dude was the good one and the other guys name I think Cace? was the evil one. Oh, now I remember it's Cade. Talk about some weird names. Other than their names I really didn't like Dace and Cade too much. Obviously I thought Cade was a douche but Dace just felt like the author was pushing the reader to like him a little bit too much. I think cause maybe she was going for the whole like this guy because he's GOOD and hate this guy because he's EVIL thing.

The WTF?!

The first thing that irked me was Daire. The second thing that irked me was the names. Really, what kind of names are Daire, Jennika, Cade, and Dace. I applaud the concept of trying to find something original but that's a little over the top. The third thing that irked me was the slow pacing. It was very slow and very boring.

The Buzz

They're really wasn't much buzz in this book. I think the whole book overall annoyed me. The characters, the slow pacing, even the world building bothered me. Don't get me wrong there is a lot of potential for this book but it just fell flat for me. I have the second book on my to read pile but I don't know if I'll pick it up.
